DISMOUNTING WITH A FLEXIBLE INDUCTOR.

Dismounting tightly fitted components like gears, couplings and bearings is one of the most demanding jobs in maintenance.

THE CHALLENGE.

For dismounting applications, a high power output is essential! The objective is to heat the component as quickly as possible, creating sufficient expansion before the heat can travel through to the shaft, causing the shaft to expand as well. Diverse geometries of parts add another layer of complexity.

Traditionally, fixed or tightly fitted components were often removed using gas burners, open flames, or by cutting the part altogether. While these methods can be effective, they are difficult to control and often result in excessive heat transfer to surrounding components. This increases the risk of damage to shafts, seals, bearings, and adjacent equipment.

OUR SOLUTION.

Using a high-power medium-frequency generator in combination with a Flexible Inductor allows heat to be introduced exactly where it is needed. The result is a fast, controlled heating process that minimizes heat penetration into surrounding parts, enabling safe and efficient dismounting without damaging the component or the shaft.

A Flexible Inductor enables the heating of components with diverse geometries like gears, couplings and bearings, primarily for dismounting. Below, we explore the types of components suitable for a Flexible Inductor and the winding methods that achieve the best results.

HEATING NON-UNIFORM PARTS.

Thinner parts heat faster, which can lead to overheating and even burning the Flexible Inductor. It is crucial to adjust the winding accordingly, ensuring proper heat distribution and avoiding any negative effects on the workpiece or the inductor.

HEATING UNIFORM PARTS.

When a workpiece has a uniform mass distribution, wind the Flexible Inductor tighter at the edges. This ensures a uniform input of heat throughout the part. Without it, colder edges can impede removal of the ring. Tighter edge windings distribute the heat evenly so the ring comes off cleanly.

HEATING NARROW PARTS.

For narrow workpieces, apply multiple layers of winding on top of each other to introduce enough power, which we call stacking. Always apply as many windings as possible.
